Original watercolor painting of White Daffodils captures a cheerful patch of white daffodils in full spring bloom, with bright yellow and red ruffly coronas giving each flower its own personality. The threesome look like they are waving and laughing in the sunshine.
I was inspired by some spring daffodils at the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens in Boothbay. This was my first attempt at painting white flowers on a white background. I thought it would be very difficult, but it was surprisingly easy and deeply satisfying. I love how you can see sunlight on the white petals - luminous! As with nearly all of my paintings, these were painted using strictly transparent watercolor, which means the white is the paper (no white paint or gouache).
Daffodils symbolize optimism, renewal, and creativity, which is exactly why they make us so happy.
White Daffodil print is a perfect "thinking of you" gift or pop of joy in a guest bedroom.
