The very lifelike blossoms range in tones from pink to coral, and pop against the lovely deep green leaves. It's a very happy, joyful painting, one of my personal favorites from the Botanical Gardens. This particular rhododendron blooms in early spring on the hillside overlooking the pond and waterfall. See my Woodland Waterfall painting for the view across the way. The hillside is covered in colorful swaths of azaleas and rhododendrons, ferns, lady slippers, and so much more. It's one of the most beautiful spots in the Boothbay region.
