Why You'll Love It
Original watercolor painting of Pond Island Light captures the wide, open shore at Popham Beach in Phippsburg, Maine. I chose to paint this at very low tide so it looks like you can almost walk over to the lighthouse. Love how the shorebirds seem oblivious to the waves rolling in behind them.
Popham Beach is one of the most beautiful stretches of coast in Maine at any time of year. You can access the beach easily from Popham Beach State Park. For this painting, I explored Fort Baldwin and walked up the beach until I reached this dramatic view. I love this bend in the beach because of how the tide shifts and waves converge. The greens on the island in summer are wonderful.
This original painting of Pond Island Light would delight anyone who loves the Maine beaches or lighthouses.
