Why You'll Love It
Original watercolor painting of Scarborough Marsh captures a Great Blue Heron standing watch over one of the pools in the golden salt marsh. The yellow ochre grasses in the marsh really glow next to the lovely blues in the sky and water reflections. This is just off the Pine Point section of the Eastern Trail in Scarborough, Maine.
On the afternoon I took my reference photos I saw three Great Blue Herons and countless Snowy and Great Egrets along the trail. The walk takes you through the salt marsh and along the Nonesuch River, and recently I spotted a wonderful seal playing in the river right beside the path. It's a birder or nature lover's dream at any time of year.
This painting would be a wonderful gift for a birder or anyone who loves the quiet beauty of Southern Maine's coast.
