Original watercolor painting of Sailing on Somes Sound provides a beautiful view of sailboats gliding along the peaceful waters of Somes Sound, just off Mt Desert Island, Maine. Sargeant Drive links Northeast Harbor and Somesville as it winds along the fjord. The road is edged with granite coping stones and wildflowers. In the spring, waterfalls cascade down the cliffs on the right. For my original painting, I wanted to show both the road and the water for perspective. It really feels like you're driving on the water at times.
