Why You'll Love It
Dynamic watercolor print of Pond Island Light features white-capped waves rolling into Popham Beach in Phippsburg, Maine. You can see the lighthouse in the background just a whisper away from shore. The best part are the shorebirds, who seem completely oblivious to the waves and surf inching closer and closer to them.
Popham Beach is one of the most beautiful stretches of coast in Maine at any time of year. You can access the beach easily from Popham Beach State Park. For this painting, I explored Fort Baldwin and walked up the beach until I reached this dramatic view. I love this bend in the beach because of how the tide shifts and waves converge. The greens on the island in summer are wonderful. My reference photo was taken in August, but it looks the same throughout the summer.
Prints of Pond Island Light are perfect gifts for a birder, a lighthouse lover, or anyone who loves walking on the beach. I recommend choosing several prints of favorite places to create your own gallery wall documenting your adventures in Maine.
