Watercolor print of Pemaquid Sparkles captures the deep blue ocean shimmering and sparkling in Bristol, Maine. This beautiful spot is just below the Pemaquid Point Lighthouse, right at the water's edge. The tide was way out and I walked 2/3 of the way down the rocks, and let my camera cover the remaining distance. I love how the afternoon backlighting makes the water glow. It's mesmerizing how each wave catches the light in a special way.

Sparkling water is one of those subjects that can challenging to paint in watercolor, and is deeply satisfying when it comes together. This was my first attempt and I love how it came out. Pemaquid Point is one of the most beautiful and dramatic spots on the Midcoast and this effect really brings it to life on paper.

A print of Pemaquid Sparkles is a wonderful memento of a summer vacation in Maine. Display it in your home office and pretend you never left! It would be a perfect addition with other Maine Seascapes or Lighthouse prints for your collection.
