Why You'll Love It
Original watercolor painting of Mt Desert Narrows captures the stunning golden grasses and vibrant blue water on the road to Bar Harbor.
This view is right across Route 3 from King's Creek and makes a wonderful put-in for a kayak or canoe paddle out toward the Narrows. I used to drive by this on my way to work every day and never tired of the view. I'm not sure if this is technically a salt marsh, but the golden grasses are wonderful. The grasses skew with the tide while the water stays remarkably calm and glassy. It even freezes in the winter.
For this painting, I was captivated by the colors and the challenge of realistically painting wavy grasses at high tide. Then look at the fall colors popping amongst the evergreens on the shore. You'd be surprised how challenging it is to balance the colors and texture. In fact, this was my second attempt because the grass refused to cooperate with me in the first! But it was totally worth it because I love how it turned out.
A colorful, dynamic statement piece for a living room or any space that needs coastal color. I recommend browsing my other Acadia and MDI area art for your Maine collection.
