Watercolor print of Mark Island Light captures the beautiful lighthouse on Mark Island in Winter Harbor, Maine. It's a dynamic scene with waves crashing against the rocks, deep blue-green sea, wildflowers, dramatic clouds, and the mountains of Mount Desert Island rising across Frenchman's Bay behind.
The original is a large full sheet watercolor, which meant opportunity to include all kinds of details. Fun fact: I painted the lighthouse, sky, and surf entirely upside down to get the light exactly right.
Mark Island Light is best seen from the Schoodic loop road in Acadia National Park, with Mount Desert Island directly in front of you across the Frenchman's Bay. My Dad took my reference photo for this painting from a boat.
