Original watercolor painting of Birches captures a weathered old barn sheltered by luminous white paper birches near Friendship, Maine, well off the beaten path.
The light in this painting is everything: cool and shady under the trees, warm and summery around the barn. Purple monkshood softens the sliding door, and you just know there are sheep or cows somewhere nearby. I happened upon this scene while exploring back roads, which is exactly my favorite way to find a painting.
It reminds me of happy memories playing in our barn at home. A wonderful gift for anyone who loves the quiet beauty of rural Maine.
