The light was extraordinary the morning I took my reference photos for this painting. Everything was crisp and fresh, and the colors were almost too good to be true. I chose this perspective because I love the colors and the warm rocks add texture to the pond. Sandy Stream Pond is one of the best places in Maine to see moose in their natural habitat. I've spotted them grazing on the little point of trees on the left.
