Why You'll Love It
Watercolor print of Barred Island captures the energy of the surf along the rocky shore in Sunset, Maine, where the wet rocks glisten like jasper in the sun.
Barred Island Preserve is my favorite place in Deer Isle. You walk through lush, verdant woods and then suddenly out to a sandy beach with this amazing view:  The island connected to shore by a tidal sandbar, East Penobscot Bay stretching beyond. Time it just right, and you can cross over at low tide and loop around the whole island. It's truly magical.
