Why You'll Love It
Watercolor print of Seaside Still Life captures a beautiful scallop shell and reddish plantago flowers resting on sun-bleached rocks at the water's edge. Lovely yellow lichen adds just the right amount of contrast for the transparent blue water.
I happened upon this beautiful scene while hiking the shore trail at Bowdoin College's Schiller Coastal Studies Center on Orr's Island. I was immediately captivated by the colors and textures. Look closely and you can see submerged rocks and seaweed just under the water. The sea arranged this still life (nearly) all on its own (I slid the shell over about 4" so it was nestled in the plantago). You can just spot this rocky outcropping from the bridge if you know where to look. It's one of my favorite hikes in Harpswell, definitely off the beaten path, which makes it all the more special.
This Seaside Still Life print is a wonderful memento of a summer vacation in Maine. Also a perfect gift for a marine biologist or anyone who loves the coast. Pair with other Harpswell and Midcoast Maine scenes for your gallery wall collection.
