Why You'll Love It
Transport yourself to a perfect summer day on the shore in Acadia National Park. This beautiful watercolor seascape captures the drama and intensity of waves crashing against the rocks along the Schooner Head overlook in Acadia National Park. It makes you feel like you're actually standing on the cliff, looking out at the beautiful cove and open sea beyond.
My original watercolor painting was inspired by the powerful surf pouring over the golden rocks. The colors are fantastic! There's nothing like experiencing the power and drama of the changing tide, and I really captured it with my painting.
Schooner Head overlook marks the start of the Ocean Drive stretch in Acadia. It's accessible from the Schooner Head Road in Bar Harbor or the Park Loop Road. Beautiful spot that I think many people miss in their excitement to get to Sand Beach and Thunder Hole. The name comes from a white stain on the cliff that looks like a schooner (best seen by boat). The classic book, "Bar Harbor Days" has some fun stories about nearby Anemone Cave and other places in Bar Harbor.
This beautiful Schooner Head seascape would be a perfect gift for anyone who loves Acadia or Bar Harbor. Many people choose it as a focal point for their Maine gallery wall collection.
