Sandy Stream Pond is one of the best places in all of Maine to see moose in their natural habitat. In fact, you need a moose pass to go there! I've seen them just beside the little point of trees on the left (but not on the day I took my reference photo for this painting). The pond has several wildlife viewing vantage points and this one captures the full sweep of Katahdin at its most dramatic. The water looks crisp and cool, and the early fall color on the trees tells you exactly what time of year it is. Maine at it's finest.
