Why You'll Love It
Watercolor print of Motif No. 1 Reflections captures Rockport's iconic red fishing shack on Bradley Wharf. I chose to paint this view because of the glassy water that mirrors Motif 1 perfectly. You can see the last sailboat heading out to enjoy a beautiful day on Cape Ann.
Reputed to be the most painted building in America (if not the world), Motif is a very popular muse for many artists. I know I've painted it about 4 times. This view, with the glassy water and the open horizon, gives the familiar landmark a peaceful, almost meditative quality that feels different from the usual angle. I love that.
Motif 1 sits right in the heart of Rockport, Massachusetts, next to Bearskin Neck, and on a calm day the reflections are extraordinary.
A wonderful addition to a nautical or coastal space. Perfect addition to a collection of Seascapes marking your summer adventures.
