Locals will recognize this as Holbrook's field, just past Curtis Cove Beach in East Blue Hill, Maine. The painting's name comes from the beautiful white house across the road. The horses were daytrippers, coming to graze for the day and then heading home. I always wondered why they seemed to come and go without a trace! The sweeping views of land and sea from this field are some of my favorites in Maine, especially beautiful in June when the wildflower fields are at their best.
