Why You'll Love It
Watercolor print of Somesville Bridge captures the beloved white arched bridge in the quiet village of Somesville on Mount Desert Island, Maine. This perspective captures the beautiful purple pickerel weed blooms along the shore.
Most artists paint this bridge from the road, with flowers lining the fence. I've also painted it from that angle several times, but I have to say, I love the purple pickerel weed! It looks like baby lupines, and the reflections of light on the water are extraordinary. You can almost hear the beautiful sound of silence standing here. It's that kind of place.
Somesville is tucked away not far from Bar Harbor and the bridge is a favorite for engagement and wedding photos. My fall painting of the bridge even made it to the wedding ceremony (held in front of the bridge)!
A print of Somesville Bridge would be a beautiful addition to a coastal cottage or Maine memory wall. It pairs beautifully with Acadia or MDI Garden prints.
