Original watercolor painting of Song Sparrow and Lupine captures an inquisitive little song sparrow perched on a beautiful purple-pink lupine stalk. Lush greens and rich purples provide a perfect backdrop.
I'm fairly sure the sparrow didn't bend the lupine himself, but it makes for a wonderful perspective. My painting reference photo is from Bremen Town Park on the Pemaquid peninsula. This is an absolute must-see in early June when the hillside is covered in purple flowers. There are benches and plenty of places to spread a picnic lunch, and a mowed path leads down to the shore below. It's one of my favorite places in the whole area.
A wonderful gift for a birder or anyone who loves lupine and the Maine coast.
