The grasses skew with the tide while the water stays remarkably calm and glassy. It even freezes in the winter.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFor this painting, I was captivated by the colors and the challenge of realistically painting wavy grasses at high tide. Then look at the fall colors popping amongst the evergreens on the shore. You'd be surprised how challenging it is to balance the colors and texture. In fact, this was my second attempt because the grass refused to cooperate with me in the first!
